The Harmful Effects of Jia and Yi Stems, Tai Yang Hua Ji and Tai Yin Hua Ji for Spousal Relationships

In this article, I will share with you some simple and effective ways to determine potential problems concerning a native’s spousal relationship as well as prospect of marriage or not. Regardless of wherever Tai Yang or Tai Yin is in the native’s chart, be it in Spouse Palace or other palaces, these two stars will be useful for determining spousal status. Tai Yang will represent the Male native self, or the prospective Spouse, while Tai Yin will represent the Female native self, or the prospective Spouse.

When Tai Yang Hua Ji, the status of the prospective Male Spouse will be unclear, whereas when Tai Yin Hua Ji, the status of the prospective Female Spouse will be unclear. Any intelligent reader will query on why the status is unclear? The answer lies in the nature of Hua Ji which usually have two signs of extremities: lack, or excess. Henceforth Tai Yang Hua Ji or Tai Yin Hua Ji usually stand to mean that there will be no marriage at all, or otherwise many marriages. And in addition to this phenomenon, Male Natives do not favour Life Palace at Yi Stems and Tai Yin will be at Spouse Palace, while Female Natives do not favour Life Palace at Jia Stems and Tai Yang will be at Spouse Palace. Likewise if Tai Yang is at Life Palace in Female Native and Spouse Palace at Jia Palace and if Tai Yin is at Life Palace in Male Native and  Spouse Palace at Yi Palace, it will be unfavourable too.

And upon further analysis, if Tai Yang or Tai Yin is at Life/Travel Palaces or Spouse/Career Palaces, or Parents/Health Palaces, whenever Decade Period meets Jia or Yi Heavenly Stems, they will cause Tai Yang or Tai Yin to Hua Ji and henceforth “unclear” status also. Furthermore, what if a Male Native have Tai Yang Hua Ji in Spouse Palace or if a Female Native have Tai Yin Hua Ji in Spouse Palace? The above rules likewise apply the same, there will be “unclear” status in spouse relationship.

Therefore specific Birth Stems to take note of are Wu and Gui Years. These natives have to take extra precaution when it concerns spousal relationships. Because they will tend to have sequences of Jia, Yi, Jia, Yi  from Zi Palace to Mao Palace, and if Decade Period pass by these palaces, there will be potential problems with relationships.

Si Hua Test for Poor Affinity to Wealth

This is a section taken from “The Prosperity Sigma”. Although the book is San He-based, I have included some Si Hua material as tools for readers to use.  One of the example is with the Test for Poor Affinity to Wealth.

The essential condition for poor affinity to wealth is that when Wealth Palace sends forth Hua Ji to either Travel Palace or Parents Palace which subsequently clashes with Life or Health Palaces. A Life Palace clash is conspicuous. A Health Palace clash is hidden. This is the first level basis of Poor Wealth Affinity. The second level is of bad financial luck during Decade Periods. The conditions are: 1) Decade Life will send forth Hua Ji and it will clash with Birth Wealth Palace (from Birth Fortune Palace), or 2.) Decade Wealth will send forth Hua Ji and it will clash with Birth Life (from Birth Travel) or Decade Life (from Decade Travel), or it will clash itself (when sends to Decade Fortune Palace).

Poor

This is an example of both Poor Affinity to Wealth as well as financial problems in Decade Period (Bing Zi). The native has Birth Wealth Palace at Bing stem sending Hua Ji to Travel Palace. Bing transformation is Tong Hua Lu, Tian Ji Hua Quan, Wen Chang Hua Ke, Lian Zhen Hua Ji. The Travel Palace clashes with the Life Palace. This is the first sign that this native is not fated to money. Now, let’s look at the Decade Period at Bing Zi. During this period, his Decade Wealth Palace is at Birth Career Palace and it is at Ren stem. Ren transformation is Tian Liang Hua Lu, Zi Wei Hua Quan, Zuo Fu Hua Ke, Wu Qu Hua Ji. Hua Ji is sent to the Decade Fortune (Birth Spouse) palace and it “self-clashes” back to the Decade Wealth Palace. Thirdly, once again Decade Life at Bing (Birth Wealth) will again send a Hua Ji to Lian Zhen to Birth Travel (Decade Spouse) which clashes back to Birth Life Palace. During the fifth decade cycle, this native should NEVER partake in any investments, and should remain extremely cautious with his finances as there will be serious deficit problem.

The Secret Relationships of Heart and Kidneys

Here we will go into some aspects of Chinese Medicine theories with respect to Zi Wei Dou Shu and discuss about the most common ailments that can affect significant amount of people, which are heart and kidney diseases. Most people would have found little significance or relationship between heart and kidney diseases, treating them as mutually exclusive problems due to lifestyle habits, but these organs are actually closely related to each other. And potential problems of heart and kidney problems can be easily observed from ZWDS charts.

In Chinese Medicine theories, the Heart and Kidneys have to be “connected” for interactivity in order to function properly and thus give health. Shen (神) defines Heart of Elemental Fire. Jing (精) defines Kidneys of Elemental Water. And Zhi (志) defines Spleen/Guts of Elemental Earth. In order for Fire and Water to be connected, Earth has to be stable. Fire of Heart will warm the Water of Kidney to keep it regulated. Water of Kidney will nourish and calm the Fire of Heart to keep it regulated. If there are problems, the Fire of Heart will be increased or otherwise the Water of Kidney will be increased. When the connections are well established, the native will be energetic. Onset of problems begin with lack of energy. This is followed by either headaches (increase of Fire) or sore kidneys (increase of Water). And subsequently the next phase will either be heart attack or kidney failures. So can these be checked from ZWDS charts? Yes, of course.

During analysis of the charts, if the Birth Life Palace or Travel Palace, or Birth Parents Palace or Health Palace, as well as Decade Life Palace of Travel Palace, or Decade Parents Palace or Health Palace have one Water elemental stars (e,g Tai Yin, Tian Tong, etc) and one Fire elemental stars (e.g.Tai Yang, Lian Zhen), and one of them happen to Hua Ji either as predestined birth transformation or during periods, chances are there will be no connections between the Heart and the Kidneys. If it is a predestined condition, the native will already be afflicted with either Heart or Kidney diseases (depending on where the Hua Ji is, either on Fire elemental or Water elemental stars). If it happens during periods, there will be this imminent risk at that time. So what is the remedy? Very simple, the trick is to keep the Spleen/Guts healthy as a functional medium between heart and kidneys, by reduction of stress, exercises and eating nutritious food. Skeptical? Try to read  and validate the charts of heart attack and kidney failure patients.

The Conundrum of 四正同臨 Formation

There are many ZWDS practitioners who are critical of the 四正同臨 (Si Zhen Tong Ling) Formation, and it is generally regarded as an illogical error from ancient writings. This is not related to the ZWDS concepts of 三方四正 (San Fang Si Zhen). The Si Zhen in question here had been open to many interpretations. The ancient prose mentioned 四正来临居旺地,一生爵禄定非常。文为辅弼依龙凤,武掌兵权佐帝王。Modern practitioners deemed that the stars associated in this formation in question namely Zi Wei, Tian Fu, Tai Yang and Tai Yin at highest Miao Wang magnitude will be defined as the Si Zhen. The ancient descriptor for this formation is mentioned with ancient extravagance, citing great literary and military talent, fit to be king. There is one such condition, that is if Zi Wei is at Wu Life Palace, all the rest of Tian Fu, Tai Yang and Tai Yin will be at Miao Wang locations which fit the descriptors. 王亭之 (Wang Ting Zhi) had however mentioned that this formation cannot be used absolutely to describe the great outcomes as the overall condition of the native and how he or she will fare is dependent on many other factors.

This is the general theories of recent ages. However the concept of Si Zhen (四正; Four Trues) is also interpreted differently because the original idea of Si Zhen are 子,午,卯,酉 (Zi, Wu, Mao and You) four locations. These are defined as the 正北 (True North; Imum Coeli), 正南 (True South; Medium Coeli), 正東 (True East; Ascent),正西 (True West; Descent).The four original locations in Early and Later Heaven Trigrams are defined as 乾坤坎離 (Qian, Kun, Kan and Li) also defined as 天地水火 (Heaven, Earth, Water and Fire). ☰ (Qian) is the Yang Energy, ☷ (Kun) is the Yin Energy. Both ☰ and ☷ through interaction of Yaos procreated ☵ (Kan) and ☲ (Li). The respective 乾坤坎離 (Qian, Kun, Kan and Li) of the stars are seen here. The Early Heaven ☰ (Qian) refers to Zi Wei (Yang) Ruler of the North Pole and ☷ (Kun) refers to Tian Fu (Yin) Ruler of the South Pole. These arrangements are defined differently in Later Heaven definition of Zi wei as Yin or Tian Fu as Yang. Also subsequently ☲ (Li) of Later Heaven becomes Tai Yang (Fire; Day Spirit), ruler of Mid Heaven and ☵ (Kan) of Later Heaven becomes Tai Yin (Water, Night Spirit), ruler of Mid Heaven.

These Four Main Stars of supreme perfection if they are to occupy the Life Palaces, especially back to the  子,午,卯,酉 (Zi, Wu, Mao and You), and also if without malevolence or emptiness stars in San Fang Si Zhen and with fortunate stars in SFSZ, the native will fit the criteria of the formation largely to support a fortunate hypothesis. There will be no co-occupancy and the four stars will never be altogether in the four locations at the same time. However, while the formation is nevertheless still a logical fallacy, it is important to approach such conundrums on all theoretical possibilities.

The Complex Nature of Po Jun in Ancient and Modern Context

When we look at part of the lyrics from the 女命骨髓賦 (Female Marrow Prose), we will see 破軍一曜性難明 (It is difficult to understand the character of Po Jun). The descriptor is that of a solitary star of debauchery, that is unfavourable for female life, and if four malevolence are encountered, the native will be that of unscrupulous connivance, hurtful to offsprings because of envy and lust, otherwise that of lowly promiscuity. In our current modern society, of course we have to practice more discretion when it comes to such dramatic description, because an absolute statement like this will tend to have serious consequences.

The part about “difficult to understand the character of Po Jun”, in all fairness usually points to Po Jun at either Zi, Wu, Mao or You locations as Life Palace, and specifically only on women. Po Jun in occupation at Life Palace with Lian Zhen at Mao or You locations in a female native chart is deemed as particularly bad. This is supported by the line from 紫微斗數全集 (Zi Wei Dou Shu Complete Volumes)  with 破軍卯酉不為榮,加殺遇劫為奸盜,此係刑邪之定論 (Po Jun at Mao and Yu is shameful. If encountered with Malevolence or Robbing Stars the native will be of evil.) Such configurations can only point to meeting of Po Jun with Lian Zhen at Mao or You locations. When the stars are here, one will be Ping and the other will be Xian. The ancient verses pointed out that only Yi, Xin and Gui Birth natives will be beneficial, Jia, Geng and Bing natives is not lasting. The chaotic and unstable nature of Po Jun meets the emotionally complex nature of Lian Zhen within the Life Palace, are met by the orderly and righteous nature of Tian Xiang influencing from the Travel Palace in opposition.

Such combinations cause overt complexity in the mental state of the native due to the conflicting nature. If there are presences of Lu Cun or Hua Lu or auspicious fortunate stars within vicinity, the conflicted nature will be stabilized. If malevolent stars like Qing Yang, Tuo Luo, Hua Ji, Huo Xing or Ling Xing are in vicinity, the conflicted nature will be augmented. What is mentioned in the ancient texts as “evil” should be viewed in the modern context as unstable. However when we explore the three directions of Po Jun and Lian Zhen at Life Palace, there is Wu Qu and Tan Lang in Career Palace and Zi Wei and Qi Sha in Wealth Palace. These are formidable and aggressive combinations. However there are many permutations to it. Malevolence in vicinity increases solitary and eccentric nature, fortunate stars in vicinity increases affinity with people.

Yi Birth causes Zi Wei Hua Ke which increases wealth making ability, Ren Birth causes Zi Wei Hua Quan which increases selfishness and bigotry, Ji Birth causes Lian Zhen to Hua Lu which brings exceptional ambition, Bing Birth causes Lian Zhen to Hua Ji which creates many dilemma in life, Gui Birth causes Po Jun Hua Lu which improves enterprising and makes it hardworking (if Huo Xing and Ling Xing are met, easy failures. if Qing Yang and Tuo Luo are met, easy legal entanglement).

In a traditional society in Ancient China, women are favoured to be subservient housewives. Naturally if the female native was of a more active and aggressive nature, she will be frowned upon and easily judged as promiscuous, hurtful to relationships, disobedient. And when the female native is of a more aggressive, opinionated and opportunistic personality, naturally she would had caused much domestic harmony within traditional households given that she was “trapped” in those settings. However, in modern society, since such Po Jun/Lian Zhen natives are bestowed with some of the qualities as stated above, these women will be very successful career women,  far from the pathetic descriptions from ancient texts. So always exercise discretion when making sense of ancient texts in the modern context. So after these writings, it should clear up some air that while it is now not very hard to understand the complex nature of Po Jun from the Female Marrow Prose, women in general are still quite hard to understand. But that is another matter altogether.
